Home Wind EnergyThe energy created from the motion of air that is the wind is called wind energy. We all know it is free to obtain, but how to convert it into mechanical or electrical energy is not within everybody's grasp. This is an energy which is clean and abundant that can be obtained from any where. While we use this energy there is no fear of toxicity or pollution as it is emission free. It is a reliable, sustainable and cost effective source of energy. Amount of energy obtainable will depend on the speed as well as the density of air. The efficiency of the wind energy system will depend upon speed of wind in the area. Wind mills and wind turbines are usually used to convert wind into energy. Wind turbines or windmills, are mounted on a tower to capture the most energy. A small wind turbine can be used to power a typical home. The power made by the turbine is send through transformer to the power-line to electrify our home. This can also be collected and send to long distance. The rotation of wind mills was a danger to birds but the modern turbines rotate slowly so that it is no more a danger and its rotating sound is no more so audible than motor vehicles traveling. So now the only complaint with regard to generating wind energy is that it spoils the beauty of the landscape. The advantages of wind power far out weighs this only disadvantage. Once installed it generates electricity quickly. |
